Sr. FPA and Optical Systems Engineer | Goodrich Corporation | Chelmsford, MA

Overview
A FPA & Optical Systems Engineer is required to play a key role in the development and testing of advanced airborne reconnaissance systems. Must have experience in imaging systems in particular testing optical systems and Focal Plane Arrays (FPA)

Responsibilities
  • Assembly and test of EO/IR systems
  • Requirements flow down to Focal Plane Arrays , FPA electronics, FPA test methods.
  • Developing detailed test plans including requirements verification and validation
  • Responsible for systems engineering activities from proposal , systems definition, engineering prototypes through production delivery to customers
  • Working closely with the rest of the systems engineering team. Qualifications
  • Well versed in testing EO/IR systems design including optics and detectors (FPA)
  • Previous experience working with dual band optical systems
  • Experience working with FPA vendors during the development of existing, new or custom devices.
  • Familiar with the test equipment used for testing optical, for Focal plane performance
  • Able to assist in the assembly and alignment of complex multi-band systems
  • Familiar with the use of MATLAB, Envy, IDL
  • Strong personal discipline, verbal & written communication, documentation skills.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willing to travel in the U.S. 10% to 15% of the time.

Experience
  • BSc or Master's degree Optics or Physics is preferred
  • > 3 years experience in relevant industries
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance required
