Goodrich ISR Systems in Danbury, CT is seeking a Materials Engineer to
provide expertise in high reliability, military and space level
materials selection, standardization, and application.
The individual will work as a member of several integrated product teams
to implement a reliability program which would include design analysis,
database management, product failure analysis and qualification testing.
The individual will have responsibilities related to the selection and
use of materials in high reliability systems.
- Design, research, analyze and develop materials and their related
fabrication processes to optimize materials for use in an engineering
design.
- Applies principals of chemistry, physics, metallurgy and material
behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite materials.
- Develop processing and engineering specifications, fabrication and
assembly processes. These processes would include heat-treating and
stress relieving of various materials and coatings on high performance
optics.
- Perform failure analysis and life predictions on components,
sub-systems, and systems.
- Review and approve subcontractor procedures.
- Perform testing in a laboratory as required.
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry material
specifications and quality assurance codes and standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Fully competent in Microsoft Office.
- Good documentation and presentation skills.
- A working knowledge and the ability to read drawings using Pro/E.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or equivalent.
BS degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in engineering field.
Advanced degree in Materials Engineering/Science, is desirable.
Must be able to obtain Security Clearance
Some travel may be required based on program needs
